🌿 Handspun Scarf Care Guide
How to care for your handmade merino and silk art yarn scarf
Your scarf is made from handspun coiled yarn, lovingly crafted with merino wool and tussah silk.
Each piece is slow-made, one-of-a-kind, and meant to be cherished as wearable fiber art — a tactile expression of natural texture, colour, and care.
Because it’s created by hand from natural fibers, your scarf will evolve beautifully over time. With gentle handling and mindful washing, it will stay soft, vibrant, and full of character for years to come.

🧺 CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Because of the unique structure of art yarn, it’s important to treat your scarf with care. Wool naturally repels dirt and odors, so frequent washing isn’t necessary.
To refresh your scarf between washes, gently steam it using a textile steamer — or even a clean food or vegetable steamer (just be sure to wash it thoroughly before and after use).
If a tassel knot loosens with wear, simply retie it, securing the core thread to the fibers.
If it becomes time for a deeper clean:
    •    Hand wash in cool to lukewarm water
    •    Use a gentle wool wash (Eucalan, Soak, or mild baby shampoo)
    •    Submerge gently and avoid rubbing or agitation
    •    Soak for 15–20 minutes
    •    Lift with both hands and squeeze gently — never wring
    •    Roll in a towel to remove excess water
    •    Lay flat to dry, reshaping as needed
    •    Do not hang — this preserves the scarf’s shape and coiled texture
    •    Remove light pilling by hand only (no fabric shavers, please!)
Hand-Dyed Color Notes
This scarf is dyed by hand using small-batch processes. Because natural fibers absorb dye unevenly and retain more pigment than factory-treated yarns, some dye release may occur when the scarf is wet, especially during the first wash. This is normal for hand-dyed fiber and does not affect the integrity or longevity of the scarf. Wash separately in cool water and avoid contact with light-colored items while damp.

🌸 NATURAL WEAR & FIBER EVOLUTION
One of the most beautiful aspects of natural fibers is how they change with wear — alive in their own quiet way.
    •    Wool may gently full and bloom over time — this is completely natural
    •    This subtle fulling adds durability and a buttery-soft feel
    •    Coils may relax slightly, settling into an organic sculptural texture
    •    Silk contributes strength, soft shine, and graceful drape that only improve with wear
Think of your scarf as living fiber — it will soften, evolve, and shape itself uniquely to you. Each wear deepens its story.
