Wearable Art Yarn – Handspun Merino & Tussah Silk

This wearable art yarn is a meeting place between softness and strength, structure and movement.

Hand spun from a luxurious blend of 70% 19 micron merino wool and 30% tussah silk, this yarn is warm, breathable, and deeply tactile. The fine merino brings gentle elasticity and next-to-skin softness, while the tussah silk adds quiet sheen, strength, and a subtle wild texture that catches the light as it moves.

Designed to be worn, touched, and lived with, this yarn can be styled as a wrapped neck adornment, layered textile jewelry, or incorporated into fiber art pieces that invite closeness and presence. Each skein carries the marks of the hand — variation, texture, and intention — celebrating slow making and the beauty of imperfection.

This is a versatile fiber, well suited for:
• Knitting
• Crochet
• Weaving
• Needle felting
• Wet felting
• Mixed media & fiber art

Whether worn or worked, this yarn is meant to ground, soften, and connect.

Fiber Content
• 70% Merino Wool (19 micron) – exceptionally soft, warm, and breathable
• 30% Tussah Silk – adds strength, texture, and a natural, luminous sheen
Tips for Working with Handspun Coiled Art Yarn

Handspun coiled yarn is a delicate, expressive fiber and should be handled gently. Some skeins may include added elements such as silk or thread, which can shed if handled roughly. Coiled yarn also contains a specific amount of twist — pulling too firmly or twisting in the opposite direction can cause it to unwind.

Cutting Your Yarn – Preserving the Coils
• Before cutting, wrap two thin strings or threads 2–3 times around the yarn above and below the cut point and tie each with a secure double knot. Leave about a 1” gap between the tied areas, then cut between them.
• Secure the cut ends by either:
- Tying a knot that includes both the fiber and the core, or
- Knotting the core string to the tied thread.

There are many ways to secure handspun yarn — don’t feel intimidated. With time and experience, you’ll find what works best for you.
